Grantham Cricket Club are partnering Notts-based Little Wickets to roll out their exciting, fun sessions to boys and girls from the age of 2.5 years up to 11 yrs old.
Little Wickets Managing Director, Chloe Williams explained ‘Little Wickets delivers cricket-based coaching sessions to our boys and girls which, we hope, ignites a lifelong passion for sport. Little Wickets does much more than teach our youngsters how to bat, bowl and field. Through our enthusiastic, qualified coaches, we educate youngsters in The Spirit of Cricket, focusing on the ‘FUNdamentals of Movement’ to develop individual skills, team work and fair play. The kids are picking up valuable life-skills while they’re having fun’.
Little Wickets offers ‘1st innings’ sessions for pre-schoolers from 2.5 years of age.
For school-age children, up to 7yrs of age, there are ‘2nd innings’ sessions, run at weekends and after school. They are year-round weekly indoor sessions run by handpicked and fully-vetted sports coaches. As well as these sessions, School Clubs and Holiday Camps will be held at Gorse Lane.
‘We see the partnership with Grantham being a springboard for Little Wickets to replicate in Lincolnshire the great success we’ve achieved so far in Nottinghamshire’ said Williams.
Grantham Cricket Club is delighted to to be working with such a fantastic organisation as Little Wickets and we hope that, by partnering with the club, we can help them attract a whole new audience to their superb coaching sessions, and support their ambitions of reaching out into Lincolnshire more widely. We believe that getting our youngsters involved in sport at any early age is vitally important, especially as opportunities for playing sport aren’t as widely-available as they used to be. Allied to this, the increasingly-high incidence of childhood obesity means that projects such as this will inevitably have great health benefits too.
