It was a day to forget for Grantham’s 1st XI as they played their first home game of the league season. Grantham welcomed Woodhall Spa and, after losing the toss, were asked to bat first on a green, seaming wicket. After a promising start with the top three of Dan Webb (24), Stewart Mudie (31) and Rohan Nurse (47) playing positively, it was all change when the wickets started to tumble. Malinga Bandara (6-49) did the damage and Grantham’s remaining batsman failed to reach to double figures as they collapsed to a total of 148.
In reply Woodhall only needed three batsmen to cross the line as the runs were shared between them. Joe Peck claimed the only wicket for Grantham and the side will be keen to bounce back next week away to Market Rasen.
